Festival of Trees 12/07/13

The Day that we went to the "Festival of Trees," we had 

a major winter storm as well as Hayden's Baptism. 12/07/13

The roads to Sandy were not great, but the weather changes quickly 

once we were passed the Point of the Mountain.  It was cold, but clear!

A Popcorn Tree- This little guy was one of the infants who conquered

 amazing odds and is alive and doing well. 
That is him walking with his walker.

The "Garth Brooks" tree brought in more money than any one tree.  

It was purchased for $20,000 and Garth donated $30,000 to go with it! :)

tree to represent six-tuplets born to a couple.

 The "Gone With the Wind" Tree featured  multiple figures of 

Scarlet in various scenes from the Book. This one is Scarlet and Rhett!

 This is a paper mache deer.  The tree featured a famous 

boxer which wasn't nearly as impressive as the deer.

 This is the pattern for Andrea's next Blessing dress. :)

 This was a little dog house! (For some pampered pooch!)

 This tree had dozens of porcelain elves. Each was different and so cute.

Temple Square with the Potters

We meet Colton and Malea at Temple Square on 11/30/13. 

We had a little picnic in the parking lot before we headed for temple square.

Everyone enjoyed the little sandwiches and the 

beautiful day: no snow, leaves on the trees! :)

 Andrea was the hair dresser and the Maid of Honor.  She was also quality controller.

Aunt MaryLynn was miraculously guided to find
Ann Elizabeth Craib's parents 

and each of their parents and families. 
We were able to seal them all that day. :)

Dad's Fishing trip- 11/9/13

Dad's long awaited fishing trip finally became a reality!  He left 

on Nov. 6th after work and picked Scott up at the SLC Airport. They 

headed straight for Art and Terri's in Burley and arrived about 12:30 a.m.  

The next day they got their licenses, gear, and goodies and traveled another 

5 hours to Riggins, Idaho where they got a motel and spent the night.  

The next morning they boarded the boat on the Salmon River

 about 7:30 a.m. and the day of fishing began. 

The area was beautiful as you can see.  This is one of

 the pools they fished in on the Salmon River.

Dad is ready to cast off.  Notice the other fishing boat in 

the back ground.  They weren't the only ones fishing that day.

Dad is braced for the fight he imagines when a 

BIG salmon takes the shrimp he was using for bait.

This is the 18 inch rainbow trout Dad caught.  

He had to throw it back because it was a native.

That means it is a native.

Finally--- Art caught another steel head that wasn't a native. Notice 

that the dorsal fin on the back is missing.  That means it a hatchery

fish, so it is fair game. This fish was the biggest fish of its kind, 

taken this season. Fishing is a little like going to Vegas.  It's a bit 

of a gamble when you can't keep the natives.

This is looking into the cabin from the back of the boat.  It is 30 feet 

long,  all aluminum and weighs about 12,000 pounds! It has two- 360 

Ford motors turning jet pumps. You could water ski with that!

This is another shot of the beautiful canyon.  The guys leaned on

 these rails to fish so they didn't fall over if they got a BIG one.

Luckily for us,  Art kindly gave his record breaking fish to Dad.

As you can see this fish is bigger than the big cutting board Neldon made for us.

Squeaker is checking out the huge fish head.

Apparently steel head HEADS are a delicacy in the feline world.

Note:  We got four nice slabs of meat after Dad flayed this fish.  Since it cost us 

roughly $34 per pound---live weight, we are saving it for Christmas Eve. :)

Dad commented that this trip was the experience of a life-time

 and the company could not have been better.  He doesn't regret

 going at all, but concluded that he won't need to go again.  :)
