San Diego Temple

We arrived at the temple just at dusk. (Taken from temple parking lot.)

Grandpa and I in front of the west tower. Grandpa and I in front of the east tower.

Rorie and parasol at the temple.

Grandma, Rorie and Grandpa with a traditional shot of the temple.

Noa and Rorie with the Sister missionaries serving there.

Photo Shoot!

Meghan secretly planned a generational photo shoot.  She picked out what she
wanted them to wear.  I took these shots while she was working her magic.
Much better pictures coming....SOON! (Nov. 8, 2015)  Thanks, Meghan!

 Three generations!

 Grandpa K and Ephraim

Dad and Jake

These boys like hats!  (Jake got his for Christmas!)

 Ephraim and Jake

Rorie with her parasol from the wedding.
 Is that attitude or Sass?

 A very unofficial family portrait.
Enough is enough!  Headed back to the car,
then on to the San Diego Temple.

Coronado Island

Sunday morning we woke up on Utah Bus driving time, so we decided to
go for a drive over o Coronado Island before heading to Jake's for Church.
This is the bridge you have to drive over to get there.  It is
high enough for the U.S.S. Boxer to drive under.
There are suicide counseling signs on both sides. Huh?

What started out as a desert island with lots of rabbits
and some skinny sage brush now looks like this!
The surf was beautiful as we walked along the beach.
We got some funny looks as we were in our Sunday clothes.
This Hotel is the landmark of the island.

It really is a kind of paradise.

I loved this gnarly old tree nearby street clock.

This is Jake's apartment...The one with the American Flag.
Yep!  We were at the right place!

Swimming at the motel with Jake and kids

Grandpa and Ephraim were the supervisors. They took it seriously!

Why is Rorie the only one in the pool?  Because it
was stinkin' cold and her Dad threw her in.

Jake's girls love him!  (Me, too!)

Jumping to Dad is fun...unless your dad is Jake!(Then it is risky.)

Our Trip to California: Old Town San Diego

Our first day, we also visited Old Town San Diego.
If you visit there you will meet these two old guys.

The little shops, museums and  old craft demos
were great, but the blossoms and lovely shirt
sleeve weather is what I enjoyed the most.
Ephraim was buddies with his favorite person....his Moma, or...
 Rode in complete style!
Rorie inspects the work of this old, and very skilled Blacksmith.

One shop featured the best ever root beer floats.
The natural Mediterranean trees were fascinating and I discovered
we have another "climber" in the family who checked them all out.
Remind you of anyone you know?
The Old School House featured games the children of
that era would have played.  Noa is enjoying one.

Rorie challenged her Dad it a game of checkers.
Before long, Noa and Grandpa got involved, too.

We saw some beautiful Spanish Dancers and
had lunch at a favorite Mexican Restaurant.

For dessert, we found the candy store!  This is a taffy puller.
Grandpa and I remembered pulling taffy and honey candy by hand.

Then we went back to our little motel room.
Meghan had a photo shoot so we hosted a party
It started with introducing Ephraim to his new pony.  This is Jake's old rocking
horse that he got for Christmas when he was 18 months old.  Grandpa made
some repairs, Aunt Bethany repainted it and we took it to California for delivery.
EPHRAIM WAS A NATURAL FROM THE BEGINNING!

Rorie might be a little bit big.  She has long legs! It was
just right for Noa! Her eyes disappear when she smiles.
Does that remind you of anyone?
This was the next day at Jake and
Meghan's home just before we went to church.
