Florida trip at the Smiths

Darrel and I flew out for Florida on Nov. 13, 2014.
It was a very chilly day and the flight was packed.

We actually sat in the very back seat, a first for me.

Our departure was delayed while this de-icing truck
came and sprayed to wings to prevent ice build up.

The spray created a fog that almost concealed the wings. Cool!

Our lay over was a big change in climate and...

an even bigger change in culture!  Welcome to Las Vegas!

Janna and Ammon picked us up at the airport in Orlando at 11:30 p.m.
as Scott was in SLC for meetings. We didn't get to their home until nearly
1:00 a.m.  We managed to set off their alarm system and it was amazing
how quickly we got a call from the local law enforcement. :)
This is the Smith's home.  It is secluded and very beautiful.
Grandpa and Ammon took the garbage down for pick-up.

We got reacquainted with the horses and...
meet some of the local wild life.
This is a BIG fox squirrel who lives in their front yard.

This is the kids coming home from school.

Even in November Janna has flowers!

You may wonder what these great hunters were shooting at.

It wasn't Abby!  She was in different tree.  The boys had another target to shoot at.

While Janna and I worked on laundry and some deep cleaning in order
to clear up the fleas that had somehow appeared, Scott and Dad went
to work on the new book shelves for their family room.  A BIG storm took out
their inter-net so the Reunion Book Project was put on the back burner.

Potatoe Harvest 2014

Andrea came home to help us with our potato haul this year.
Can you tell Abby was happy to see her?
Dad is training the "last leaf on the tree" to run the tractor and dig potatoes.
Andrea is a quick learner and she and Dad made a great team.

The harvest was abundant this year.  Daniel Lee stopped in to help supervise.
We had enough potatoes for us, a few to sale and lots to share.
We provided potatoes for the Levan 2nd Ward Christmas party this year.

Wood haul 2014

This year we could only get a permit to cut cedar
and Ponderosa pine out west of Eureka. I had an over night
bus run to Richfield the day the haul was made.  11/7/14

This is the BYU work crew Andrea gathered up.
(They are willing to work for food.:)

Lunch break!  Tyler, Katie and kids joined them.
Notice Luke peaking out the the play pen.

The load wasn't as big as hoped for the time and effort
involved, but the smell of burning cedar has been wonderful.

After Dad got everything split, Andrea and I helped him move it into
the wood shed.  Then we cleaned up the wood splitting area with FIRE!

These stumps from a year ago,  were rotten inside
and created more ash than heat when burning.

It was dark and the wind was blowing during this
phase of the project.  It was AWESOME!

Did you know I think fire is fascinating?
