June 2018 Misc.

1. A selfie in front of the St. George temple during my bus trip with JHS volley ball team. 2. Maia was in my primary class as a visitor.  Her grandma, Shauna Harmon said Maia loved our class Because of what she felt there she decided to be baptized.  June 30, 2018 was her day/  Maia was 11.

Our little swallow couple hatched out five babies in June. 

We had another bird make a nest in the wreath on the front door.

She hatched out three babies early in July.

Andrea helped Dad get tickets to Anne of Green Gables at the BYU for a Mother's Day surprise.  We found this BIG rocking chair while there.  The production was delightful.  Andrea had a class with the actress who starred as Anne.  The sign is the one some of us gave as a wedding gift to Jessica Kenison.  We also gave her a small table and six padded folding chairs.

Shuler Reunion June 25-30, 2018

Bethany took her kids camping with the Shulers up Payson Canyon after the Smiths had gone home.  I was on a 4 day bus run to St. George for most of that time, but Darrel and I rode up the day after I returned.  It was worth any effort to be with some of the people I love the most.

I was intrigued by the hammock bunk area.

Hans found Grandpa, snuggled up and went to sleep.

He seems to feel that when he is with Grandpa...he is home!

Bethany is working on a new walking stick.

We sat in a big circle and visited for the short time we had available.This is an annual event that the entire family takes very seriously.  They had a trailer house village for the whole week.

150 year anniversary of R.S. in Nephi Stake 6/23/2018

Janna was here for the sesquicentennial celebration of the R.S. on the Nephi area.  We were privileged to have Sister Jean B. Bingham, the current General R.S. President come and speak to us.

Jamie (Goble), Laura's best HS friend was in town visiting to.

Irene Mangelson made the postage stamp quilt behind her when she was in High School.  She was honored during the evening and I caught a picture of she and Sister Bingham together.

Kaylee Marvin's funeral 6/23/2018

Kaylee Marvin was killed in a hiking accident on June 18th.  She was the 16  year old daughter of Kurt Marvin and Sydni Carlisle.  She was also Dick's granddaughter.  His effort to stay close to Kaylee and Kyler through the years has been exceptional. 

Mary made this wreath for Sydni.

This beautiful arrangement was for Dick and Jody.

Kaylee was a cowgirl through and through.

Kaylee was prolific in writing her feelings and 

many became a great comfort to us all.

There were dozens of military people there in honor of Kaylee 

and her step father, who is a good and honorable man. 

A procession of horses led the horse drawn carriage to the cemetery.

Kaylee's Grandpa Carlisle led Kaylee's horse 

with Kurt's saddle without a rider.

The casket was inside the carriage.

Kyler and several of Kaylee's friends acted as pall bearers.

One was Dalyn Christensen from Nephi, who rode my bus.

Sydni embraces her dad who dedicated the grave.

After the dedication of the grave, everyone was invited to come and write a final message on the casket.  This was the first time I'd experienced that and I liked the idea.

The support from the Marvin family touched many. Kurt was killed before Kaylee was a year old and he and Sydni had already divorced.  Gratefully Sydni has allowed us to be a part of their children's lives.  I look forward to see what arrangement Heavenly Father has for this situation.

Mormon Miracle Pageant with the Smiths

We were able to enjoy the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti with the Smiths, Bethany and her children.

Some cute cast members came to visit Caden.

Snow cones were a hit! It had been years since we attended and everyone enjoyed the power and spirit of that production.  For some it was a first, for the rest of us a very nostalgic experience.
