Andrea's mission farewells

Andrea's first farewell was in her BYU 166th Ward on
March 22, 2015.  Her topic was HAPPINESS.

That was exactly 3 years since Grandma Marvin's passing.
We stopped the day before to add a touch a spring.

The tree blossoms revealed Spring profusely and early this year.
The day of this farewell was a perfect spring day.

Following the meeting, we picked a spot  of grass with a
beautiful center piece, then we served nearly 9 gallons of
ice cream with yummy toppings.
Over 100 students stayed to celebrate the occasion.

Matt, Jono and Andrea

James, Andrea's friend, made a surprise appearance.
It appears these 4 ward members didn't mind.

The ice water was a hit, too.

Andrea finally found some time and space to enjoy an ice cream sundae.

Dad was the last to indulge. Do you like the table cloth?

ANDREA'S 2ND FAREWELL was on March 29th
in the Levan 2nd Ward. The luncheon was a "Chuck-a-rama"
feast and Andrea had over 125 guests!

The Smiths helped us decorate the Levan Town Hall.  We used an Easter theme.

Abby, Noa, Rorie and Ammon waiting for the event to begin.

Ammon, Abby, Noa, Rorie on the day of Andrea's farewell in Levan.

Last minute preparations and decoration repairs.

Linda Suazo was my great Kitchen assistant.  Brenda worked on her weak wrist.

Sadly, few pictures were taken of the first wave
that consisted mainly of family and out of town
friends.  Andrea had the love and support of many!

The following were taken during the 2nd wave following our meeting block.
Andrew Robinson is the only home teacher Andrea remembers.
Can you see Kent and Sharon Bateman and Bishop Hone?

Marg Dalton was mine and Andrea's faithful visiting teacher.
Gratefully, we had a few Kenison family members who joined the 2nd wave.

Lindsey and Tammy were two of Andrea's favorite YW leaders.
Bryana has been a life long friend.

My thoughts exactly!

The very successful farewell and luncheon were
over and it was time to enjoy cousins at home.

Grandpa's 65th birthday parties

Grandpa's first birthday party was at Tyler and Katie's house
following Andrea's farewell in her college ward. (3/22/ 15)  The menu was
baked salmon, rice pilaf, fresh veggies and fruit and triple berry pie.

SECOND BIRTHDAY PARTY (3/23/15)
Dad's 2nd birthday party was on his actual 65th birthday here at home.
By then, Meghan and the girls had arrived from California,
Mellors were able to join us and Wilkins came down to boot!

Grandpa and Haylie

Rorie (fresh out of the tub) and Luke

 Kaleb and Luke

Our menu was tossed salad, pizza, fresh fruit and peach cake and ice cream.

Peach cake with caramel frosting.

Dad got several new ties from the Mellors to
go with his new birthday suit.  :)

(You can tell by his face that Dad liked the new knife Jake sent him)

Dallin designed with amazing track.
He could be some kind of an engineer some day.

THIRD BIRTHDAY PARTY 3/24/15

The Smiths flew in on March 24th, so we had to have one
more party to include them.  It's okay!  Grandpa didn't mind. :)

As you can see...the menu included pumpkin pie!
What do you think Grandpa wished for ?

Park CIty Retreat (March 13-14)

The Weekend Andrea was in Washington with Jason and
Laura's family, I had an over night bus run to Park City and in
some ways it was a much needed retreat.
The Ski runs were still open, but mostly with manufactured snow.

On Saturday, Dad and Katie came to play with me.
They brought lunch, Leia and.....

Luke!
Our first order of business was a picnic on
the PCHS artificial football field 20 yard line.

Luke found some random eggs with fuzzy baby chicks inside. :)

Leia found a football field plenty of room to toddle and explore.

Next we headed for main street in Old Park City.
This statue reminds guests of Park City's roots.  It began as a mining community.

We visited several of the shops.  This one featured the
photography of a Mangelson. (That's a good Levan name!)

We even found.....The Abominable SNOWMAN!  He was a paper towel holder. :)
After warming up to him, we got pictures.

Behind this window is the Park City Brewery still.
That's when you know you've reached the end of the road and
it's time to turn back. (Instructive don't you think?)

One of Luke's favorite spots was a construction site with Big equipment.

All of us noticed the fancy road bikes.  Leia was even excited!
Luke gave me a thumbs up to let me know they were
safe standing next to this ancient Indian hunter.
The art in Park City is worth the trip.  This is a sculpture of Lewis and Clark.
This is a full-sized Indian warrior.

This is just an old-fashioned fire hydrant, but Luke found it interesting.

As much fun as the street shops were, our favorite place was the Park City Park.
Leia had no problem venturing out on her own.

She was brave enough to navigate the slide ALL BY HERSELF.

Grandpa found a central place to                       Katie (8 months pregnant) showed
enjoy the weather and the kids.                        Luke how this contraption worked.

Luke eventually grabbed Grandpa's finger
and they did some exploring together.
Luke preferred the big circular slide.

Then Leia grabbed Gandpa's finger and they headed for the..... SWING!

The Stationary back hoe became Luke's favorite.

It was Grandpa's favorite, too!
Grandpa is teaching Luke "how to make it work."

With a discarded paper cup and a
broken plastic shovel, Luke was in "heaven."

Luke soon discovered the the back hoe seat had holes in it.
It didn't hold sand any better than snow and rain.

We had so much fun that we felt sorry for this old
dog who looked longingly into the playground.
