Check our Grandma's super slide!

GRANDMA'S SUPER SLIDE!
When I visited Karrie last November, she sent a clearance item
home with me. We  finally broke it out!  It is a super slide!

Daniel was so excited about the slide that it was hard
for him to wait for his Smith cousins to arrive, but he did it!

The hardest part about putting  the slide up was getting everything out of the box.

It was a good thing Aunt Karrie was here because we didn't find the instruction
until we were putting it away for the day.  :)  She is definitely related to her Dad!
This slide has its own little air pump and you can see that it works well.

Taylor, Aunt Karrie and Andrew are getting the water lines in position
for the high powered water gun that awaits the sliders at the bottom.

Taylor is attaching the spray nozzle and water supply line.

Aunt Janna is about to hook up the hose for the smoke test!

Caden volunteered to be our first gunner.

Both the air and water pressure are up and ready.  Notice how far the gun shoots!

Sheena just thought it was a really fancy watering trough!

This was Abby's one and only trip down.  She was sure the water
was too cold.  (She may have been in Florida for too long. )

This was Caden's one and only trip down.
Like a true Floridan---he thought the water was too cold. :)

The NC kids must have been in Utah long enough to acclimatize,
or maybe Daniel's months of anticipation made the water
seem warmer.  He was definitely in it for the long haul.

Daniel demonstrates how the slide's unique staircase works.

I captured a rather painful moment in Daniel's life.  Yes! The landing hurt!

Bradley's enthusiasm took on a cowboy flair!

This was a rare, graceful exit out the designated area.

It didn't take Bradley long to get from the bottom.... To the top!

Andrew does everything with his whole body.  His superior
technique and speed made him overshoot the runway!
Aunt Karrie assured Andrew she would catch him.  Oops!!
When we located the instructions, this method was expressly prohibited.
Andrew is a man who believes in second chances and it paid off!

Taylor was a true belly slider.

He managed to overshoot the runway, too.

Our spotter had decided to join the fun, so Taylor was one his own.

This is Aunt Karrie's first trip down.  If you couldn't tell, the cold water just hit her face!

Aunt Karrie could overshoot the runway using the fanny method.

The look on Bradley and Daniel's faces is as priceless as the one on Karrie's.

Karrie tried the belly slider with Daniel as the spotter.

We noticed that our Florida boys spent more time on the tramp than the slide. ???

Andrew detaches the water line at the top of the slide during the take down.

SUPER SLIDE...DAY # TWO! 7/15/13
We invited the Hanks Family over to slide with us one afternoon.  Sister
Hanks made arrangements for Bradley and Caden to go to Cub Scout Day Camp
with the Levan 2nd Ward.  This was our way of saying, "THANK YOU!"  They
came within minutes of Taylor's return from having his feet operated on. :)

The Hanks brought a mondo bubble blower.  Eliza was good at it.
The bubbles kept us all entertained while putting the slide up.

Abby finally gets a turn to make BIG Bubbles.

They got bigger and BIGGER...

Until it was BIGGER than Abby!

Savannah Hanks is an experienced bubble maker!

Jacob Hanks was the first in his family to try out the slide.
His landing was a bit precarious.

Jackson Hanks, Jacob's twin brother, wasn't far behind.

It appears the twins land similarly even if they aren't identical twins.

Savannah Hanks has just launched.

Her landing was more graceful than her brothers.

Nathan insisted that he get a piece of the action.

He loved it!

Abby preferred to watch from a distance and under an umbrella.
She supposed the water was still too cold.

The kids are enjoying the slip-n-slide while taking a break from the slide.

Daniel seems to be casting some kind of spell.  Guess it goes with the name!

Abby finally decided to get her swimming suit on,
but it was mainly for gymnastic purposes.

The afternoon ended in a water gun fight.  Nathan was the re-fill station supervisor.

Ammon was delighted by the afternoon's activities.  He
had his Mom's phone, but we don't think he called China.

SUPER SLIDE DAY NUMBER THREE! 7/20/13
This was the showcase session where contestants competed for
trivial prizes with their style and in some cases....their lives!
CONTESTANT #1
Andrea climbing to her death!

Thumbs up!  It's all good!

Her confidence faltered only slightly!

This is your basic somersault descent, expressly forbidden in the instruction manual.

Holy Cow! The water is cold even if you live in Utah!

Nice finish!

Can't touch this! (Love the tongue thing:)

Andrea disguised as a giant Nike turtle.

CONTESTANT #2
Karrie is pondering what she can do to best contestant #1.

This is Karrie's "too cool for this pool" descend!

Perfect finish!

Lovely landing!

This is Karrie's "That pool is too cool" technique.

Yep!  She was right!

CONTESTANT #3
This is Daniel's "tornado head" technique!

Can you guess why?

The slide has become tornado alley for sure.

Bradley was a bit slow joining due to the temperature of the water, but
he came on strong with his back slide with a last minute flip to his belly.

Eliza used the "climb carefully from the bottom" approach.

About halfway she turned...

Slid down!
She specialized in a BIG SPLASH dismount.
Touch Down!

Aunt Andrea thought it was time to dry off.
Daniel thought it was time for a ride.
(There is a lot of fine print in an Aunt's job description:)

Bradley decided he needed a turn.

At first Eliza thought the boys were silly.

Eliza is like Andrea's little shadow when she is home
and she is so sad when Andrea has to go back to school.

Double decker nap time...possum style.

  1. I am only a little jealous that I don't have or get to play on a Super slide!! Apparently we have some great aero-, or rather, hydro-dynamics in the family-amily. I love that you are so current with your posts!! I am enjoying everyone's stay there!
