Family History Night with Samoan Cousins

Our Samoan Cousins, Joe and Celine Keil and their son, Nathan were 

here for a few weeks from Samoa. Our common ancestor is Captain 

David Kenison.  They come through his son, Fredrick. Aunt Mary 

Lynn arranged for us to have dinner together and share some family 

history insights. We met at Matt and Kim Peterson's new home in 

Lindon on April 3, 2014.

Uncle Ron and Aunt Mary Lynn got their mission call that same day!

Matt and Kim's daughter is reading the letter from President Monson.

 Dad and I got an invitation because Grandma needed a ride and

 because they knew Dad has a love for and interest in his Samoan cousins.

Ron and Mary Lynnwere called on a full-time mission to the Provo, 

Utah Mission.  They will live at home, but will otherwise have the 

schedule and responsibilities of any full time missionary couple.

This is a pilot program designed to focus on the large number of 

inactive members in that area.  David Kenison was at the party and 

is the executive secretary in the Provo Utah Mission Presidency.

Uncle Ron will not serve as a Patriarch for the duration of this mission.

After a very tasty lasagna dinner, we went down stairs. Matt pulled up Family 

Tree on his computer and projected it onto the big screen.  Joe began sharing 

his insights about the information there.  We was very interested in this photo 

of Captain David's ship and its location when taken.

 Everyone sat enthralled as he told story after story of 

those on his line, many of whom stayed in Samoa.

This is a picture of Matt and Kim's very large, fancy, modern 

design house.  We thought it was an office complex when we

 first arrived.  It is a lovely home and they are very 

generous with any group that needs a place to meet.
