I met Dad into Nephi after work and Katie and kids joined us shortly afterwards.

COVE FORT DAYS- August 7, 2015
After going to Cove Fort Days with Taylor, we have wanted to go back, so this year we did.
She can make beautiful things or fun things.
This guy is a wood carver.
He carves the inside of golf balls!
There was a woman there doing hair art. This is made from human hair.
His name is Andy Watson and the Church
has commissioned him to do several pieces.
His work is featured in one of the "Touched By An Angel" series. :)
This presenter told stories from Ephraim Hanks life as if he were Ephraim.
He went on for 20 minutes and kept us mesmerized, at least those over 5.
He is not related to Ephraim Hanks, but he certainly knew his life
and personality. This represents the knife used to amputate the toes,
fingers etc of those with frost bite among the Martin handcart company.

This modern pioneer can make soap.
These are samples of her soap. Many were perfumed with blossoms of various kinds.
Kaleb and Dallin tried their hand at washing on a wash board.
This was taken in a small cubby hole inside the fort. Luke's face suggests he
didn't like the visit, but he really didn't want to stop long enough for a picture.
We found Elders and Sister Missionaries there. The sister with
BIG hair is an Aussie, and the other is from Blackfoot Idaho.
After some training from this man, I think I could make rugs if I had a loom.
On of the favorite activities of the day is the wagon ride.
I just loved the whole feeling of this picture. My Grandma
Marvin had hollyhocks so I am always attracted to them.
The driver said each of these horses weighs 2500lbs!
Finally it was our turn.
Our wagon was pulled by mules and you will notice who was
up there getting the "low down" shortly after the ride began.
This guy was a ventriloquist. His monkey could sound like a train.
Guess who is allergic to wasps and bees like Uncle Jake?
There are no free hotdogs any more. Home picnics are better anyway!
Mellors brought little cupcakes in honor of Leia's birthday. They even
brought candles, but the wind made lighting them close to impossible.
This modern pioneer lady was spinning wool into yarn.
This man was a watch maker.
A gun smith made two of these guns.
This is the gun smith. He said he could make Brenda
the kind of gun she wanted for about $4000.

I loved that this young boy was learning the black smith trade from his grandpa.

This is Gabe on the day Leia turned two.
Guess what Leia got for her birthday.
Katie designed and made a super fun "Little Mermaid" cake.
Leia liked it!
She especially liked the candles.
In the afternoon we went to the splash pad in Nephi.
Luke was very brave on the slide!

We got out just in time. It started to thunder and rain.
The party was small in quantity but BIG in quality!
That is so so sad about Hayden's face. Looks like there was a lot of cool and fun things to do. I have never been. Happy birthday Leia! That was a very super cute cake.
