This is Curt and Sharon Marvin's granddaughter with her little girl and the child's father. She was shot by this man who committed suicide with the same bullet, leaving this little girl an orphan. The funeral was life-altering for me. I've never been in a place with more felons and people with apparent addictions. The were devoid of hope and there was lots of bitter sorrow.
We had a baby shower for Andrea this month. It wasn't really well attended, but we surely enjoyed those who came. She did get a lot of nice gifts that day and in the mail in the days following.
JULY AT A GLANCE:
July 1: We took Angela and Kaylee to “The
Other Side of Heaven 2”.
July 3: Andrea and Jordan came down. Andrea helped get the girls ready for a photo
shoot with Sarah Hunt. It turned out as
well as I hoped it would.
July 4:
We stopped to enjoy some of the celebrations at Nephi Park before
heading to Devil’s Canyon for a picnic.
We had a backyard barbecue that evening.
July 6: Darrel took the girls fishing up to
Mammoth Lake. Bethany and I followed
later with a picnic. It was a beautiful
day.
July 7: We drove up to Utah County so Angela
and Kaylee could spend time with their Mellor cousins and visit with Grandpa
Marvin and Uncle Kieth.
July 9:
Darrel flew out for Arizona to bring Katie and her kids to Utah. Angela and Kaylee flew out for home. It was a bitter/sweet day.
July 11: Lynden, Amy and I took Joyce out to
lunch for her birthday. Darrel, Katie
and kids drove in from Arizona today.
July 12-13: Darrel and I went to see Cinderella
at the Hale Theater in Sandy, and then stayed at the Anniversary Inn in SLC.
Our kids provided this special time for us as a Mother’s/ Father’s Day gift.
July 13: Darrel and I stopped in Provo for
dinner with some Kenison cousins, before doing the late shift with the ward at
the Ute Stampede. Bethany and Randel
were officially engaged today.
July 15: Today was our Ogden day with the Wilkins,
Bethany and kids. We visited the dinosaur park and a splash pad. Darrel flew out that evening to help Jake with
his home projects preparatory to them
selling their home in San Antonio.
July 16:
We kept Katie’s kids so she could have a temple day in Payson.
July 17: Today was our water day in Levan. We got the big blow-up slide out. The Mellors came down for part of the day.
July 18:
Today we took the Wilkins to the Hari Krishna temple.
July 19:
The Wilkins and Bethany's family had a Nephi pool afternoon. Miss Alicia joined
them.
July 20: We hosted a baby shower for Andrea
at Brenda’s in Mapleton. She got lots of
lovely gifts and we enjoyed those who came to wish her well. Darrel flew in from Texas this evening.
Grandpa
Marvin fell today and was on his kitchen floor for over an hour unable to get
up. We feel that heat exhaustion, lack
of water, and inadequate calories may be the cause. Kent finally rescued him. Grandpa’s legs were too weak to hold his
weight for a day or two.
July 22:
We hiked to the waterfall with the Wilkins, Bethany and family for FHE.
July 23:
I took Katie and her kids to the Hale production of Peter Pan Jr. We had the sediment in our well blown out and
a new motor put in the well today.
July 24:
We enjoyed the home town celebrations here in Levan. Miss Alicia spent
the day with us so she could see Katie.
We had torrential rain during the program that evening. The JHS choir moved under the pavilion and
performed wonderfully anyway.
July 25:
Today was our Yuba morning for the Wilkins.
July 26: Darrel, Katie and kids drove back to
Arizona today. Darrel flew back home on July 29th.
