FAVORITES FROM THE FIELD IN AUGUST

First is a couple of miscellaneous ones from home.

Aug 13: Today was Kieth’s 58^th birthday. Even when we try not to have favorites, he usually comes out on top.  He is a good man and his commitment to family is unparalleled. It was Tyler Mellor’s 16^th birthday and he was ordained a priest today.  We learned about that event late in the week and had other commitments so we weren’t able to accept the invitation to be there.  We felt sad about that.  We went to Logan for Sister Lee’s mission report with Andrea.  Sister Lee was Andrea’s last missionary companion and one of her favorites.  We stopped in West Jordan to meet Jordan’s family.  That was very pleasant experience. 

Rainbows remind us of so many important things.

FROM WASHINGTON

A family temple trip!

August 21: Today was a momentous day.  It was Bradley’s 12^th birthday and President Monson’s 90^th birthday.  It was also the last day of summer for our school district.  I went to BYU Education week.  I can only go one day a year, but I certainly love it. There was a solar eclipse today.  Jason, Laura and family drove to Oregon to experience totality.  They said it was pretty awesome because the street lights came on.  We were about 90% eclipsed here and I was fascinated by the shadow patterns produced during the eclipse.
