November Odds and Ends

Nov. 3: Today was parent teacher conferences so there was no school. Darrel and I went to SL for David Shuler’s funeral. It was an interesting and very unconventional service. Parts made me very uncomfortable to have it going on in the chapel. I fear David had become a free-lance Christian. There was a good spirit there, but not the intense Spirit that heals and leaves joy and peace in its wake. The Mongolian, Seek, and Koran prayers were long and a bit uncomfortable in that setting. Each was a prayer from those religions used at funerals. Two were not in English. Terri was there and was a ray of sunshine as usual. She is still strong and faithful, but none of her children are and all her grandchildren are being raised outside the church. It had to have been a difficult day for her, but she handled it with dignity and grace. David was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The luncheon afterwards was an Indian menu provided by friends.

Those still around for Sunday attended Marge Dalton's Sunday School Class.
Bethany was the resident artist. It is clear what the lesson was about.

Brenda spent a few hours working on Shellie while she was here in Utah.
